Round 13 – The Prophet’s Predictions

ROUND THIRTEEN

The bye rounds are upon us. As we all scramble to ensure we have enough viable Supercoach options, we need to wait a few weeks for parity again, before the mad dash down the back nine towards the clubhouse is upon us. As we head into Round Thirteen, I’m the Prophet and these are my Predictions.

If you decide to base your multi off this, and it fails, I’ve warned you already that that is risky. I won’t be to blame. This is purely for fun, and to see how I go. Feel free to message the page or comment on the previous week’s version if you have any thoughts.

So, strap yourselves in for the Prophet’s Predictions for Round Thirteen.

The Guarantee

Whenever someone lays a tackle, Harley Reid will be talked about. Whenever a rookie/rising star candidate does something, Harley Reid will be talked about. And by the end of the weekend, people will begin to resent Harley Reid for something he cannot control.

Also, I expect the Big Freeze sliders to go all out for Big Freeze 10, and honouring the legendary Neale Daniher. Time for him to be Australian of the Year.

The Ultimate Nightmare (Worst Case Scenario)

Saints fans, look away now. Gold Coast become inept when they travel, yet, the Saints haven’t been great. Max King isn’t delivering on potential, and they’ve shown they can really stink it up. For the boys from Moorabbin, it’d be an absolute nightmare if they lose to the Suns.

The Outsider (unexpected winner)

I expect the Crows to win on Thursday Night. They were embarrassed in Melbourne last week, and now, they’re on their home deck. However. The Tigers get some midfield reinforcements this week, and have shown glimpses in recent weeks. Matthew Nicks may not remain coach beyond the weekend, if the Tigers get up – which, based on the Crows recent showing, could happen.

The Money Maker (Bold Call)

Watch this backfire spectacularly, but, my bold call this week is that the Cats beat Sydney in Sydney. It shouldn’t be super shocking, given the Cats are 3rd to the Swans 1st, but the way each side has been playing shows vastly different form. The Cats will get a couple of players back and are the sort of side that will have geared up for this game, heading into their bye. Cats by 4 goals.

Essential Result (Must Win)

West Coast, at home, against North. Sure, they won’t have Harley Reid, but North are, well, North. The Eagles should be winning this one.

Most at Stake (Vulnerable)

Melbourne. After being eviscerated by Fremantle last week, they will want to respond in the King’s Birthday clash. The Pies are depleted, but still a good side. Stick a fork in Melbourne if they lose this.

The Must Watch (match up or game)

It has to be old rivals Essendon v Carlton. Both sides appear to be relevant, or, erring closer to relevance again. The ‘G will be packed. We know what Carlton dish up. Can Essendon do it against a good side? Strap yourselves in.

The Unexpected (underdog performance)

A makeshift Collingwood forward line thwarts the esteemed Melbourne defense. Premiership Hero Billy Frampton plays forward and doesn’t touch the ball, but somehow has an impact … we’ve seen this script before.

The Don (player of the round)

I’m backing in the Bont to continue his heroics from last week. An exceptional final term blitz will carry across into this week, as he leads his Dogs to the win.

The Underboss (rookie of the round)

Not just one rookie, but all the rookies. Let’s see who takes control of the Rising Star race, now that Harley Reid and Sam Darcy are ineligible.

Also, to those barking about removing the fairest component, etc. It’s niche, I know, but showing character as well as competency is modelling good behaviour. I’m all for labelling players as the best, but best encapsulates more than just skill in my mind.

Individual Brilliance (predicting a stat accomplishment like x goals or marks)

Dylan Moore to continue his form, to snare 20+ disposals and 3+ goals against the Giants.

The Winners (currently on 68)

Adelaide (just)

GWS

West Coast

St Kilda

Geelong

Carlton

Collingwood

These predictions were all made with only Thursday Night teams released. Drop us your thoughts in the comments and stay tuned over the coming weeks to see how the Prophet goes with his predictions.
