The Cats saved their best for the last quarter, as the fade out of the Bombers – something that plagued them in the back half of the 2023 season – reared its ugly head again.
Geelong kicked five of their 11 goals in the final quarter, whilst restricting Essendon to just one, as the old legs of those in the hoops (and some young ones, too) proved too strong for the Bombers to combat.
Whilst several in red and black racked them up early in the game, it was the repeat efforts of players like Zach Tuohy, Jack Bowes, and Tanner Bruhn late in the game that gave the Cats the ascendancy.
