Becoming A/The Man in 2023

Not since Nathan Buckley hightailed it out of Brisbane to head to Collingwood following the 1993 season has there been so much furore about a player requesting a trade after a year of service.

Jason Horne-Francis got his wish and headed “home” to South Australia, joining Port Adelaide and almost immediately signed a six-year extension with the club. This has left a sour taste in the mouths of both North Melbourne supporters and many footy lovers in general.

Port fans are ecstatic, but would be wise to be just a little wary, having invested so much in a young man who has not proved much to date. And what he has proven has not been all that positive.

What does 2023 hold for Jason Horne-Francis, and how do the Power nurture this talented and perhaps misunderstood talent?
