The Dogs welcomed the Hawks to the Whitten Oval in their AAMI series clash, and proceeded to give them a bit of a touch up.
44 points may not seem like a thumping win, but the Dogs were a cut above in this game, and had winners on every line. For the Hawks, too much was left to too few.
I love watching footy at this time of year – you not only get a picture of the way teams want to play, but you also get a glimpse into the future, as well. Young players are trialled, and like a good night with the missus, positions are changed often.
Last season, the Western Bulldogs struggled to beat teams above them on the ladder. Given the way the Hawks finished the season, this was an excellent way to commence the year from boys from the Mighty West.
