With the Swans sitting at 2-5, and the Giants losing their last two games, the heat was well and truly on for the latest rendition of the Sydney Derby.
Interesting that they seemed to have abandoned the ‘Battle of the Bridge’ title for this fixture – well done, AFL – only took you a decade to realise people didn’t like it much.
There was plenty of spite in the 30th clash between the crosstown rivals, with the Swans jumping the Giants and breaking the game open with five goals in the early stages.
As always seems to be the case, the team that owns the corridor at the SCG, owns the game, and with Sydney running freely through the guts in the opening quarter, it was clear the Giants needed to re-align their defensive running patterns in order to stop the bleeding.

The Giants came home hard, but every time they landed a punch, Sydney managed to put one back on their chin. In the end, it was another Swans win, taking their head-to-head record against the Giants to 20-10.
