Flying High? When Do The Eagles Soar Again?

Sitting and watching the West Coast Eagles is an interesting exercise, at the moment.

It’s not like a Forrest Gump box of chocolates, unfortunately – currently, you know what you’re gonna get from them. You get a very conservative game plan, employed to stop any potential bleeding, often meaning the game is conceded before any chance to win it. You get slight experimentation, like you’re in bed with a nervous lover. And you get an inevitable loss after a few flashes that tease you as to what is possible from this group.

Rinse, repeat.

But this is not just me taking an opportunity to point out the obvious – we have Fox Footy analysts for that. No, what I’d like to do is start looking for signs of ways out of the hole they’ve dug themselves into. We can talk about crisis meetings at the club as much as you want, but having watched the team perform in person last weekend, there were some significant takeaways that will serve the team better in the long run, IF they are courageous enough to employ them now.

And that’s where I want to focus.

Things are never as good as they seem. Things are never as bad as they seem. A rule to live by.
