I have to tell you, I love these preseason hit outs.
For some, there is the perception that they mean little, or that it is glorified circle work, but when you sit and watch them, you see little things that could mean big things later down the track.
People forget; this is where Nic Martin made his mark for the Bombers a couple of years back. He now sits amongst the best the club has to offer. This is where coaches try positional changes, and young kids stake their claim on a senior berth. It is also the place where new recruits really get to strut their stuff.
Given that, it is fitting we jump into the Giants and the Swans, with both teams entering the season as potential contenders, there was so much more to see than just a ‘scratch match’.
