When you look at a scoreline and see both teams had 17 shots at goal, you could be forgiven for thinking it was a close contest.
As it turns out, the old adage that bad kicking is bad football rang true, as St Kilda made the most of their opportunities with the wind, whilst Essendon continually squandered chance after chance.
After kicking 1.6 in the first quarter, the Bombers were unable to contain a St Kilda team used to training on the windswept Moorabbin venue, as the Saints kicked six goals in the second quarter to set up the win. Sadly, an injury to young tagger, Marcus Windhager, put a dampener on what should have been an occasion to bring smiles to the St Kilda faithful.
