Innovators – Those Who Changed The Game

Who would you call a true innovator in the modern game? How about all-time? Which coaches, or players started to do something that has seen them become trend-setters in the game?

I sometimes smile when people look at modern coaches and the tactics they’re employing. I had one person telling me that Michael Voss was a genius just a couple of weeks back, for having Alex Cincotta play a tagging role on Marcus Bontempelli… like a tag had never been used before.

So much of what we see has its roots elsewhere – it’s important to look at the originators, rather than the imitators.
