Both the Giants and Magpies had a plethora of players missing from this game.
For the Giants, it was not only State of Origin representation that was the issue, with injury a big factor in their 2026 preparation to date, but it is in these instances that you start to find just what others can do for the club.
The Pies ran some of their players into form in this one, and whilst the Giants pulled away to win comfortably, this game was a closely-fought contest for the first three quarters, with some positional moves being trialled to stretch the opposition.
