With both teams coming off five-day breaks, and the ground seeing some heavy traffic during the week, this game had the potential to be an ugly one.
Luckily, the weather gods held the rain off for this one, and allowed some pretty impressive footy from the Fremantle Dockers, as they ran out 41-point winners over the Bombers.
It was expected that the Freo Dockers would defend their home turf and turn away the challenge of the travelling Bombers, particularly as Essendon have had their season throttled by injury.
And so it was, with a second-quarter surge, that Fremantle set up their win, kicking six goals to open up the game.
The Bombers came into the game with Vigo Visentini offered up as a sacrificial lamb at the altar of Luke Jackson, and in some aspects, he held his own against one of the in-form players in the competition, but Jackson is beast that will not be contained. I cannot fault Visentini, but Jackson was something else, and his combination with Caleb Serong gave the Dockers all the drive they needed to put the Bombers away.
Plenty to discuss in this one, and as always, HB likes to dive deep into the game. Here are the Big Questions from Freo versus Essendon.

Oh… a Mongrel paywall… the worst of all paywalls. Why? Because HB believes work such as this is worth a mere pittance per day. Whilst you could stick with Caro’s Arrow or Kane’s Vol-Kane-O, you’ll get your 500 words in the newspaper and be happy, or you could dive into over 3K in this review. If you don’t, that’s fine. You’re welcome to join and keep reading if you do.
