It’s a funny thing when you mention the Fremantle Dockers’ star, Luke Jackson. You cannot simply talk about him without invoking the name of another.
Sadly, I am about to do the same, because we are currently witnessing a big shift in the dynamic of the Fremantle ruck situation this season, and it is one that could have a lasting impact on the club, and maybe even how the remainder of the 2025 AFL season plays out.
What we saw in Round 12 was a Jackson/Darcy combination that absolutely worked. However, it didn’t work in the way people expected it to work, and certainly not the way I envisioned it working. It all came together mainly due to the incredible work of the man many thought would play the backup role to Darcy.
What Luke Jackson did in wet conditions against the Gold Coast Suns should be illegal for a player of his size.
He became an elite midfield weapon.
