When all is said and done, how will you remember the career of Dayne Zorko?
Will it be as the Brisbane captain, who spent years playing great footy and remaining loyal on a failing team?
Will it be as the brash, trash-talking star of the Lions on the rise, in opposition players’ faces?
Or will it be as the mature, half-back General that aided the club securing its first flag in over 20 years?
For me, the last 12 months have displayed a vastly different side of Zorko. Sure, there have been splashes of the brashness, the cockiness, and the button-pushing that he made his name on, but there has been another side to his game that has leapt to the fore.
Courage.
Maybe that’s how I’ll remember him – as one of the most courageous players in the modern game. Let’s explore why.
