I’m trying something new with this review. I saw our very own Timbo Higgins do this a few weeks back, and thought it worked really well. So, of course, I am stealing it.
Coming into every game, there are things you expect to happen. This one was no exception. The fun part starts when things bob up that weren’t so expected, and how that changes your perception of things.
And that’s what I plan to look at as part of this article.
So, what was I expecting from this contest?
I expected GWS to win – let’s get this out of the way. And win comfortably.
I expected Oscar Allen to throw his body in like he has never done before for the Eagles.
I expected that to be completely nullified by the presence of Sam Taylor and Jack Buckley.
And I expected the absolutely stacked GWS forward line to get hold of the undermanned, and frankly, poor Eagles defence.
All off-season, I sat here and wondered what the worst-case scenario was for the West Coast Eagles, and I kept gravitating back to Jeremy McGovern getting injured. Lo and behold, here we are at Round Four, and Gov is on the sidelines.
Worst.
Case.
Scenario!
So, given I wrote the above about four hours before game time, how did I do with those expectations and a few more? Let’s find out.
