If you cared enough to pay attention to what was going on in the pre-season, you may have seen this coming.
The Crows had a close-to-perfect lead in to their Round One clash against the Saints, with a mini-showdown destruction of the Power, followed by a gutsy, close win against the reigning premiers.
But people discount what happens in the pre-season as irrelevant. They like to play it down and neglect what they see with their very own eyes.
Not me.
I liked what I saw. I saw enormous potential. I saw a well-balanced team with depth. And I saw recruits hit the team that added plenty – not just another name on a team list.
Yes, had you paid attention, you may have seen it coming, but even then, watching the Crows brush aside the Saints like they were a mere annoyance, may have surprised you a little.
It shouldn’t have.
Whether like them or you don’t. Whether you rate the coaching, or think it’s ordinary. And whether you choose to acknowledge the injuries that compromised their structure in 2024, or not, what you’re going to have to do is realise that this incarnation of the Adelaide Crows are a formidable weapon in 2025.
They could go a long, long way. And unfortunately, for the undermanned Saints, they ran into a buzzsaw at the Adelaide Oval.
