AAMI Series – Carlton v GWS. Positives and Negatives

A meeting between two potential contenders in the 2025 AAMI Series managed to capture my attention in the lad up.

The Blues finished their 2024 campaign with a whimper, whilst the Giants somehow squandered a match-winning lead to bow out of the finals race, as well. Both losses came against the eventual premiers, and there has to be a feeling amongst both these sides that they really were not that far off. One a bit further than the other, but cumulative form over the past couple of years would suggest both these teams have the ability to give it a shake.

But last year’s results mean very little heading into the 2025 season, and with just one more hit out before the opening of the season, both the Giants and Blues were looking at getting things right in this game.

With the Giants missing their ruckman, and the Blues without one of their big men, as well, it was going to be interesting to see which team came out firing. And it did not take long to find out.

Let’s jump into all the positives and negatives from the AAMI Series clash between Carlton and Greater Western Sydney.
