Toward the beginning of each review for the AAMI Series, I have asked the questions – how much can you read into these games? Do they mean anything?
I don’t think those questions were ever more pertinent than they were for this clash.
Both teams came in with strong sides (Harris Andrews aside). A couple missing, yes, but overall, they looked like solid lineups, and they played the way you’d expect in the final hit out before the real stuff starts.
The Crows had four new faces in the team, including draftee, Sid Draper, whilst the Lions had the younger Ashcroft brother pushing for his spot in the Opening Round, and the returning Lincoln McCarthy, who missed all the fun last season.
What ensued over the two hours was highly-entertaining and an indication that Brisbane have done a great job in getting their list ready despite a shorter preseason, and the Crows have finally got a side that looks like they can make a run.
