Every club has one player that, when playing well, lifts the entire group.
Call some of them livewires, spark plugs… even excitement machines, in some cases. Others still, are more dependable, Mr Fix-It types who can fill gaps and make their teammates walk taller in any position.
Last year, for a number of reasons, these players were off the pace, but a new year, new pre-season, and new opportunity to right wrongs is just the tonic for some of them.
