When a club is going well, we hear nothing but plaudits for their leadership. And right in the middle of any conversation about leadership comes the on-field leader, the captain of the club.
As it stands, we are exiting an era that gave us some truly wonderful leaders.
Luke Hodge, Joel Selwood, and Trent Cotchin will go down as some of the best on-field leaders the game has seen, whilst the current crop of Cripps, Merrett, Moore, Andrews and Neale, and Gawn as those who are easily identifiable as the respective leaders at their clubs.
But who is next in line? And who are the players the club needs to step up and into the role of captain when the current crop step away?
