We all love our blockbusters, and on a Saturday twilight game at the MCG, we were treated to a ripper between the Pies and the Lions.
After 117 minutes of the game, Collingwood finally hit the front in the last quarter, on a goal from Beau McCreery. In that moment, the Pies turned the top eight on its head. Just minutes before, the Lions looked safe, almost three goals up, and with Joe Daniher lining up from 35 metres out.
Joe had been the star for the Lions in all but the second quarter. He seemed the most likely to make something special happen.
And whilst what happened was not what I’d deem special, his poor miss paved the way for a Collingwood comeback to rival anything they pulled off during their 2023 premiership run.
It was gutsy, it was ballsy… it was Collingwood refusing to lay down and throw the towel in on the 2024 season. If you want these blokes out, you will have to be ready to get into the trenches and go to war.
Because they will.
