I have to admit, I had a tinge of sadness about me when I learnt that Kevin Sheedy was stepping away from the Essendon Board. Not just because of what he has meant to the club and the game – I’m a Hawthorn supporter, and he caused me plenty of pain over the years. It was more due to the flippant and disrespectful reactions of some people.
I find we get a bit of a mix responding to our posts on social media – much more in-depth responses to articles occur in the comments of the articles, themselves – but, as I have an interest in the site and the feedback, I do read them all, irrespective of where they’re posted. For the most part, they’re good value – food for thought and some interesting discussion. We kind of avoid the majority of nuffies, which is great.
Not everyone gets that luxury.
The response to Sheedy’s tenure with the Bombers ending was disappointing, as people offered their opinions about it, and I reckon some did it as much to appear edgy, as they did to offer a genuine take. Not all, but there were definitely some.
