It wasn’t that long ago that people were wondering whether North Melbourne and West Coast would win a game all season.
Both sides have gone through some tough times, with young lists failing to stand up to the rigours of the AFL, and injuries to older players making things more difficult. However, as is always the case, both clubs have finally emerged from the depths of their football despair to offer their supporters some hope.
And they’ll likely be replaced by other teams, who the media will jump all over and call “basket cases” for a period.
And then, like clockwork, those teams will get better and the cycle will continue.
However, as of right now, we are looking at a situation where one of the teams has already started their descent into the AFL abyss, and occupy the bottom spot on the ladder. And the other…
… well, they’re coming off a premiership, and for all the bells and whistles attached to them, are looking like they could be in a bit of trouble over the next couple of years, as well.
In this column, we are focusing solely on the Tigers. Collingwood will get a look at their list, and its rapidly ageing parts, over the coming days.
But for now, we look at where the Tigers go from here, as the 2024 season comes to an end.
