It was a nail biter in Launceston, as the Hawks surged past the Giants in dramatic fashion.
Ah yes… drama. Where would footy be without it?
The final couple of minutes of this game will be hotly debated, as the Hawks received three free kicks, and all three of them were questionable.
Jack Ginnivan dipped his shoulder into a tackle and fooled the umpire. Jai Newcombe threw his head back as he was tackled, and he was rewarded, as well. And in what proved to be the killer blow for the Giants, James Sicily was hit a split second after the ball hit his boot, resulting in a downfield free kick to Luke Breust.
And Breust lives for moments like that.
It was the fifth win in six games for the Hawks, with their only loss coming in that late capitulation to the Port Adelaide. Had they kept their heads that day, they may now be threatening finals.
They might end up threatening finals, anyway.
Lots to discuss in this one, including that controversial last couple of minutes or so of play.
