In a round where rivalries are front and centre, occupying both Thursday night for the Showdown, and Friday night for the Carlton v Collingwood clash, it is the early Saturday game that is flying under the radar, despite the best efforts of the Giants to keep it at the forefront of the AFL news cycle.
I can see why the league honchos and Channel Seven opted to give this one an Off-Broadway time slot, however, that doesn’t mean I like it. Two of the best teams in the game right now going head-to-head, and with a little bit of spice added to the mix, The Battle of the Bridge, if we’re still calling it that, promises to be one of the better games of the young season.
And, despite the attention being elsewhere, you know The Mongrel loves a great rivalry, and a great clash, so here is our extended preview of the game for members.
