So, there was definitely a mixed bag last week. Some things eventuated, some didn’t. Let’s see how things fare this week.
If you decide to base your multi off this, and it fails, I’ve warned you already that that is risky. I won’t be to blame. This is purely for fun, and to see how I go. Feel free to message the page or comment on the previous week’s version if you have any thoughts.
I’ve taken inspiration from AFL360 with some of these, because, well, it’s fun to forecast what could happen. So, strap yourselves in for the Prophet’s Predictions for Round Three.
The Guarantee
The Swans will stand alone at 4-0 on top of the ladder as they dispatch the Tigers.
The Ultimate Nightmare (Worst Case Scenario)
The MRO and AFL Tribunal determine that because someone received a falcon during a match, that the kicker deserves a suspension for not being aware of his duty of care.
The Outsider (unexpected winner)
The Saints have started the year well, albeit they are 1-1. This weekend presents a challenge. They will go in as favourites, but it is a must-win. The Saints of previous years would drop this sort of game. The Bombers have been talking about a hard edge that they want to bring … maybe start winning, Bombers. Anyway, if there’s going to be a surprise winner this weekend, it will be the Bombers.
The Money Maker (Bold Call)
I haven’t been successful thus far with my bold calls, so, third time’s the charm. I’m taking a big gamble given the lack of success thus far and it impacting my club, but I’m backing in Tom Hawkins, against the arch-rival, in game 350, to kick 6+ goals.
Most at Stake (Vulnerable)
It would be easy to list Brisbane and Collingwood here, but that’s a given. Fremantle are 2-0 and last year they were 5-7 at home. They should beat Adelaide, based on current form. They cannot afford to drop this with Carlton next week and the real prospect of ending up 2-2.
The Must Watch (match up or game)
Two games really stick out. Thursday night’s Grand Final rematch has so many stories in it. Can the Lions get some revenge? Which of these two sides will remain winless? Will it be a draw?
The other match is at Adelaide Oval on Saturday night as Port host the Demons. Expect this to be a high-scoring game, built from contest. Who will land some early punches against a fellow contender in 2024?
Side note, I’m also looking forward to seeing Ryley Sanders and Harley Reid on the same field and possibly even crossing paths.
The Unexpected (underdog performance)
Tim Kelly, against a strong Dogs midfield, to lead the clearance count for the game. It will likely be the only bright spot for the Eagles, given the Dogs found their range last week.
The Don (player of the round)
Based on recent form, I’m anticipating Luke Jackson to continue his fantastic form, and run Reilly O’Brien ragged all night.
The Underboss (rookie of the round)
I’m really liking what Zane Duursma is doing at North. Here’s to him being the standout rookie in Round Three.
Individual Brilliance (predicting a stat accomplishment like x goals or marks)
I’m 1-1 with these. I’m going to back in Charlie Curnow and Harry McKay to combine for 10+ goals making it a very Good Friday for Carlton.
The Winners (currently on 16)
Brisbane
Carlton
Fremantle
St Kilda
Port Adelaide
Western Bulldogs
Sydney
Geelong
These predictions were all made with only Thursday Night teams released. Drop us your thoughts in the comments and stay tuned over the coming weeks to see how the Prophet goes with his predictions.
