R2 – Sydney v Essendon – The Big Questions

There was a bit of heat in the clash at the SCG, as the Swans and Bombers went at each other in a highly-entertaining game of footy.

Truth be told, when doing the allocations for this week, this game was the first one I put my name next to – it was a matchup that intrigued me before the fireworks stemming from the collision between Peter Wright and Harry Cunningham, that left the latter prone on the turf and the former likely looking at a suspension. More on that later.

What I was looking forward to was some of the best ball-users in the game going to work, and how some recruits would stand up in what I thought was going to be the best game of the young AFL season thus far.

I wasn’t disappointed.

In a see-sawing contest through the first two-and-a-half quarters, the Swans were finally able to grab a little bit of breathing space toward the end of the third quarter, and used that space to set them up for a five-goal win.

Isaac Heeney, Brodie Grundy, and The Chad were great for the Swans, whilst Zach Merrett led from the front for the Bombers, yet again, and got some solid help from Nic Martin and Jade Gresham.

A heap to get through in this one – let’s jump into The Mongrel’s Big Questions.

Sorry – that concludes the free section of the article. The remainder is for our members – see below.

Oh what? A Mongrel paywall? Yep, my game reviews are behind the wall – sometimes I open them up after a day. Sometimes, I don’t. I like to give members value for their money. I believe my work is worth twenty-five cents per day. If you don’t, that’s fine. You’re welcome to join and keep reading if you do.
