R2 – Geelong v Adelaide – The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

It was a game that really struggled to get going, with the Cats using accurate kicking and control of the tempo to keep a bedraggled Adelaide at bay.

And why did it fail to get going? Because Adelaide kept stopping it with some of the worst kicking and decision making you’ll find.

Oh, also the Cats had this bloke named Tom Stewart, who took ten intercept marks to tie the all-time record, leaving Matthew Nicks scratching his head as to how to stop him.

Here’s a clue, Nicksy…don’t leave him all alone to do as he pleases. File that one away, mate.

After the Crows made their run to start the second half, it was Tom Hawkins who stamped his authority on the contest, kicking three in the third quarter, to give the Cats enough breathing room to run out winners by 19 points.

There’s going to be a fair whack for the Crows in this review – if you’re an Adelaide supporter, buckle up, and if you’re a Cats fan, well… reports of your demise have been greatly exaggerated, haven’t they?

Oh what? A Mongrel paywall? Yep, my game reviews are behind the wall – sometimes I open them up after a day. Sometimes, I don’t. I like to give members value for their money.
