There are quite a few Sydney supporters out there who believe the chance at the 2023 Premiership was lost during trade week in 2022.
After being one of the best teams in the league in 2022, the Swans went missing on Grand Final day, with the Cats putting on a clinic to humble Sydney to the tune of 81 points. Apologies for the unwanted history lesson there, Swans fans… but it is important to point out where you’ve been in order to know where you’re going.
With such a gulf between Sydney and the premiers, it was clear the team had some areas that needed attention, but when it came to addressing those issues, Sydney sat on their hands during the trade period, resulting in pretty much the same team fronting up for the 2023 season with one addition – Aaron Francis from Essendon.
And from there, things got quite worse.
