Adelaide v West Coast – Mongrel Talking Points

Coming into this game, there were several storylines that grabbed my attention.

Firstly, there was the race for the Coleman Medal and just how many Taylor Walker could kick to make things very interesting. You see, whilst it should be Charlie Curnow’s medal, he is playing on one of the best full backs in the game when the Blues face the Giants. Maybe all Tex had to do was hit the front to win it?

High hopes? Maybe… but I have been on Team Tex for a long while now – I want to see him rewarded.

There were the retiring West Cast champions, in Luke Shuey, Shannon Hurn, and Nic Naitanui, the latter of whom was unable to take the field.

And then there was the situation with the number one draft pick, after North Melbourne handed it back to the Eagles earlier in the day in one of the best efforts of not even being able to lose properly that I’ve ever seen. Seriously… how many feet have they got, and how many of them have bullet holes in them?

So, as the sides locked up, I was hoping to see an enthralling contest where both teams played on their merits. And that is exactly what we got.

Let’s jump into The Mongrel’s Talking Points for the last game of the season for the Crows and Eagles.

Oh, what the hell? A Mongrel paywall? Yep, I believe my work is worth twenty cents per day. If you don’t, that’s fine. Want to join us and access the members’ game reviews, as well as columns like the Wingman of the Year, Recruit of the Year, and other nonsensical stuff HB comes up with each week?
