Lining up in his 250th game on the weekend, Taylor Walker managed to achieve something most modern AFL forwards never get the chance to do.
Having himself a day out, he slammed through ten goals in a career-high game as his Crows dismantled the Eagles to the tune of 122 points.
It was a feat that has not been equalled by any player this season, which makes you wonder whether this is the first time the West Coast Eagles have played anyone in 2023.
Of course, I know they have (I have been forced to watch their efforts as part of reviews this year, so yes… I am aware). However, I say this because online commentary would lead you to believe that even your grandmother could snag ten against this West Coast team in 2023. It’s easy, right? Their team is a rabble, they have no hope, they’re hopeless, etc…
Yet, strangely, nobody had kicked double figures against them.
Not until now, anyway.
So, when a key forward actually does go to town on this team and kicks a genuine bag, why do people start getting bent out of shape about it and doing their best to undermine the effort?
I think we all know why.
Oh, what the hell? A Mongrel paywall? Yep, I believe my work is worth twenty cents per day. If you don’t, that’s fine. Don’t complain, though. Sometimes, I open these reviews up after 24 hours or so. Sometimes, I don’t. There is no favouritism… I just don’t.
