Melbourne v Richmond – Practice Match Review

The Dees looked classy, slick, and ready for Round One as they opened the Tigers up early to establish their lead and never relented at Casey Fields.

Led by the ruck duo of Max Gawn and Brodie Grundy, Melbourne looked dominant in the air ad backed up the aerial work with the usual suspects (Oliver and Petracca) doing what they do best at ground level.

It took Richmond until after halftime to find the fire they required to match the Demons, but by then, it was too late, Melbourne running out convincing 50-point winners.

What, if anything, does it mean for these teams heading into Round One, and who were the other players that caught my eye? Let’s jump into this practice match review to look at the standouts.

Uh oh… paywall. I’m working my way through all the practice games for our members. All preseason game coverage will be restricted and will not open up like our Home and Away reviews. Of course, these reviews are only a couple of thousand words. H&A season… I’ll get the game face on. Want to join us?
