Carlton versus Collingwood at Princes Park… I can hear the old timers sigh, as thoughts of the great clashes between the bitter rivals are conjured at the mere mention.
This was a different kettle of fish, however, as the Blues and Pies used this encounter as a warm-up for their 2023 campaigns.
There was plenty to focus on in this one, with the Blues opting for Tom De Koning to be their number one ruck, the debut of Blake Acres, and a fit Harry McKay looking at kickstarting his season. For the Pies, Tom Mitchell, Dan McStay, and Bobby Hill all pulled on the black and white for the first time, whilst fans waited to see Nick Daicos unleashed into the midfield.
