There is a pretty big problem festering at the Western Bulldogs, and I am not sure they really know how to fix it.

In this weekend’s contest against the Sydney Swans, the inability of the Dogs’ ruck division to adequately compete with what amounted to a second-string Sydney ruck division was a decisive factor in the way the Dogs capitulated.

This is not a new issue – nor is it one that has emerged over the last 12 months. We are talking about four or more years of ruck ineptitude at the Kennel, and with one of their solutions to the issue unable to take the park, in Stefan Martin, the Dogs find themselves in a familiar situation, attempting to bandaid a situation that requires a more invasive and potentially unpleasant procedure.

Paywall… what a pain, right? Well, it is how we survive and keep the page clean of gambling ads. Yeah, that’s right – we don’t just talk about how bad they are, we just don’t accept their coin.
