The Daicos Dilemma and the Houston Problem

I was playing a card game with my family just the other night – it is one of those ones where you pick up a card, and it has a question on it, and each person gets to give their answer. You know, the ones where the intent is you get to know what people in your family think… and how weird they are.

Anyway, one of the questions asked was “do you think some people can be too smart for their own good?”

Of course, I answered yes, as there have been many times when I have witnessed this, and a few times, I have been the one who thought I was the smartest guy in the room. It wasn’t so.

Anyway, it got me to thinking about coaches and how they will make a move of a player from one role to another for a variety of reasons, and in doing so, they upset the balance the team has created.

One move, in particular, has stuck out to me over the last year or two, and that is the move of Josh Daicos from the wing to the half-back flank.
