It’s not often I get to sit down and enjoy the annual AFL Draft coverage…
… mainly because the coverage isn’t all that enjoyable. However, this year, after a long day at work, the kids went up to bed and I found myself with time on my hands. There was something footy-related on TV, so I was in.
And thus, I started to take a few notes. Not on the players, themselves, although I do have to admit, I have already chosen a couple of players I will be keeping an eye on in 2026. Rather, I was taking notes on what the addition of these players would make to the teams that drafted them.
Most of those notes will become a section in the season previews, which I am already working on, and will release in January (looking at about 10K words per team… these are massive, and our biggest columns of the year), but there are a few little things too good to wait for.
The remainder of this article is for our members. They support me, and I provide for them. It’s a good deal.
Oh… a Mongrel paywall… the worst of all paywalls. Why? Because HB believes work such as this is worth a mere pittance per day. Whilst you could stick with Caro’s Arrow or Kane’s Vol-Kane-O, you’ll get your 500 words in the newspaper and be happy… when they’re not on holiday. The Mongrel NEVER stops. Trades, Free Agency, Draft, Pre-Season, Practice Games… we’re all in. You could dump the mainstream and dive articles like this. If you don’t want to, that’s fine. You’re welcome to join and keep reading if you do.
