This is not the way a champion of the game deserves to go out.

There have been quite a few players now that have been forced to retire due to the effects of concussion, but this one just hits different.

As the AFL and their panel on concussion work through the issues pertaining to Jeremy McGovern and whether he plays the game again, it is worth reflecting on a career that was built on a willingness to put himself in harm’s way, and how it inspired not only his teammates, but a generation of West Coast supporters.
