Back on Track? Jamarra at the Dogs in 2025

Signs are finally looking better for Jamarra Ugle-Hagan when it comes to the 2025 AFL season. And that news could not come any sooner for Western Bulldog fans.

After a tumultuous off-season, there was a growing sense amongst that supporter-base that they were essentially waving Jamarra goodbye this year. After not turning up to the Dogs’ pre-season, the club issued a statement indicating Jamarra was “training away from the club as he dealt with personal issues”.

As you’d expect, given the varied nature of “personal issues”, alarm bells started sounding.

After his absence, he returned via the VFL squad, and finally, as part of senior training over the past fortnight or so.

Ugle-Hagan was not given permission by the club to play as part of the Indigenous All-Stars team, but did travel to Western Australia, where he trained with the team, and seemed genuinely happy to be part of it all.

It was here, in Western Australia, that Ugle-Hagan told a Channel Seven interviewer that he was rocked by a death in the family last year, and that he was struggling to balance all that goes with it with training.

Maybe the experience of being with the IAS team reminded him of how much he liked footy? Maybe not all aspects, but the core of the game, itself?

So, where are things at? And what do we expect from him in 2025, and beyond?
